WICKER PARK RESIDENCE
Chicago, Illinois
This house is located in the Wicker Park National Historic District in Chicago. The owner, who leads a national urban agricultural program, wanted a sustainable renovation. No external changes are allowed in the historic district, but sustainable features on the interior include: radiant heat, rainwater detention, sustainable materials, energy and water efficient appliances.
In 2004, the Owner decided to re-clad the exterior; working with the City of Chicago Landmarks Preservation Council, the exterior was restored to its original look with cedar siding and a new front porch.
In 2011, a garage with roof deck was added in the rear yard, as well as a new master bathroom and extra guest bedroom on the second floor.
